Cannon Beach Chamber Educational Seminar: How to Work with the Tourism Industry and Retail
Jeff Miller directs Travel Portland’s efforts to boost the region’s economy. Under his charge, the destination marketing organization positions the area as a preferred destination for meetings, conventions and leisure travel. He oversees a staff of more than 60 full- and part-time employees and an annual budget of $25 million. Jeff sits on the International Air Service Committee, serves on the board of directors and executive committee for the U.S. Travel Association, and is a member of the Downtown Portland Clean & Safe Board.
Prior to joining Travel Portland, Miller served as the general manager of the Metropolitan Exposition Recreation Commission (MERC), a regional agency that oversees several of the area’s largest public venues, including the Oregon Convention Center, Portland’5 Centers for the Arts and Portland Expo Center. He honed his financial and business acumen during 20 years as a retail executive, including 13 years as general manager of Saks Fifth Avenue in Portland. He attended King College in Tennessee, earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Jeff loves to visit the Oregon Coast, but as far as Portland goes, you can find him enjoying activities near his home in the Kings Heights neighborhood, which includes Washington Park. After a stroll through the popular park, he likes to walk down to the Nob Hill neighborhood, taking advantage of Portland’s food and beverage scenes at prime spots along Northwest 23rd Avenue.
