Introduction to Bronze Casting
Instructor: Sam Johnson
Learn how to make patterns of simple boat parts, sculptures, door handles or other architectural objects. Patterns will be molded in sand and then cast from molten bronze. Students will also be shown how to make their own basic furnace and foundry tools, pour bronze and finish the castings using a variety of hand and power tools.
Beginning skill level. Tools: Leather shoes, natural fiber clothing and safety glasses. Bring canvas or leather aprons if you own them. Basic woodworking tools for making patterns will be available, but numerous pre-made patterns will be available for use.
