DESCRIPTION:The FisherPoets Gathering *    February 24- 26\, 2022\n\n* Given the recent spell of pandemic bad weather\, we're reluctant yet to plan a full-scale FisherPoets Gathering like we'd hoped in 2022. Because last year's virtual Gathering was surprisingly enjoyable\, we'll give it a similar go Thursday\, Friday and Saturday next February 24-26.\n\n\n\nThough we won't all meet in Astoria again this winter\, we hope that diasporic fisherpoets and friends will gather someplaces locally and safely in twos\, threes or twenties\, to perform for each other in the weeks before FPG 2022 to encourage new voices\, hear old favorites and kindle the collective creativity we look forward to enjoying together again in Astoria.  As we learn about such gatherings\, we'll include information about those that are public. \n\n\n\nThursday\, Friday and Saturday evening readings will feature two 90-minute shows of fifteen or so fisherpoets keeping it short and sweet\, a parade of five-minute performances\, original song\, story and poetry from the commercial fishing industry. A thirty-minute break will separate shows.\n\n\n\nAmong the Gathering's special events expect another Saturday morning and afternoon of on-line workshops and presentations on topics like performing the spoken word\, creating traditional fisherman's sweaters\, crafting working poetry and restoring global ocean health.\n\n\n\nhttp://www.fisherpoets.org/2022-fisherpoets-gathering.html
