SUMMARY:North Coast Symphonic Band Concert: Days of Nostalgia
DESCRIPTION:The North Coast Symphonic Band (NCSB) opens its 2023-2024 season with "Days of Nostalgia" at 2 p.m. Sunday\, Nov. 5\, 2023 at the Liberty Theatre. The band is conducted by Terry Dahlgren of Warrenton\, Oregon. The concert will feature a look back at memorable songs and activities through the years\, according to Dahlgren. Pieces include "Moon River\," featuring soloist Emily Sangerman on tenor sax\, "California Dreamin'\," "Star Dust\," and even a few tunes from the 80s. Guitarist David Drury and flutist Shelley Loring Barker will perform modern and contemporary jazz as prelude music starting at 1:30 p.m. NCSB Board President Brian Bergman will be the concert's emcee. Regular admission is $15. High school students are admitted free\; admission for middle school students and younger is free with a paying adult. Advance tickets can be purchased at the Liberty Theatre Box Office from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays or online at www.libertyastoria.showare.com. Tickets will also be available at the door starting at noon the day of the concert. The Liberty is located on the corner of 12th and Commercial streets in Astoria. The North Coast Symphonic Band is composed of local musicians of all ages who enjoy networking\, learning from each other\, and maintaining their skill levels in a positive and supportive environment. The band is currently at full strength. To join the waiting list\, contact Personnel Director Lee Stromquist at encore1@charter.net or 503-861-1328. Potential new members should be able to read music\, own their own instruments\, and have advanced high school level performance skills or higher.
