Don't miss "A Golden Thread: The Legacy of Pete Seeger", the third long-delayed concert of Pete Seeger compositions at the Charlene Larsen Center for the Performing Arts. Seeger's "O Had I a Golden Thread", calls music a golden thread. The 15 Cast members have chosen over 20 songs weaving a message of surviving hard times and rising out of despair into the light of freedom and hope. Organized by Kit Ketchum and friends to celebrate the iconic musician and support the Performing Arts Center, the first Pete Seeger tribute concert Astoria version in 2018 was born. Kit says that singing Pete's rousing songs and listening to Jim Dott's narrative about Pete's life and the ways he helped our country during tough times like the Civil Rights era brought hope and confidence that we would come through hard times and rise up singing again. It was so much fun to do the first event, and a second concert in 2019 was also a big success and well-attended. We branched out a bit with our songs and offered the music of performers and songwriters whose work had been inspired by Pete's message of hope and justice. The third concert had to be postponed and is now happening! The concert name refers to one of Pete’s songs: "O Had I a Golden Thread". A Golden Thread: The Legacy of Pete Seeger
