Hello, My name is William Hopp — I’m a filmmaker bringing my independent feature Abductee to Astoria for a special screening at the historic Columbian Theater on May 13. We’ve partnered exclusively with the Columbian because of its importance as a cultural and cinematic landmark in Astoria. Our release is built entirely around independent, historic, and community-driven theaters—spaces like this that keep film culture alive outside the traditional studio system. This event isn’t just a screening—it’s part of a grassroots roadshow where I’ll be in attendance for a live Q&A, creating a shared experience that brings together filmgoers, visitors, and the local creative community. The goal is simple: fill the theater, celebrate a historic venue, and contribute to Astoria’s ongoing identity as a destination for film. I’d love for this to be considered as part of your community events and shared with your audience. Driving awareness and attendance to the Columbian that night directly supports a local landmark and the broader film culture Astoria is known for.
