"I Smell a Rat!' Join us as we unveil our newest exhibit in partnership with the CCC MERTS program! Students have constructed a rat guard for ships using US PHS historic diagrams. Rat guards were used to prevent rats, notorious for spreading disease, from getting aboard ships. Friedrich Schuler will read from his new book, Pestered by Plague: The U. S. Public Health Service Station in Astoria, OR and Knappton Cove, WA, from Cannery to Quarantine Station 1899-1901.
