In-Museum Summer Programming

LOOK FOR THE EDU CART IN THE GALLERIES Mondays and Thursdays 11:00AM - 1:00PM Saturdays 2:00PM - 4:00PM Join a Crew member for a hands-on inquiry-based learning experience within the galleries. Topics include Lighthouses, Life at Sea, Cargo of the Columbia, and the Fur Trade. The daily topic is selected by the Crew member on duty. Check with the Front Admissions Desk for the daily location. JOIN US IN THE FORD ROOM FOR EDU TALKS Wednesdays and Thursdays at 11:00AM Step into the Ford Room for informative and educational talks on a variety of maritime topics - the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse, Charting 101, Grey Whales, Sailor School, and STEAM-ing through summer. Talks are limited to 25 participants and run for approximately 20 minutes. SETTLE IN FOR THE BOOK BOAT B.B. Sea Reads Wednesdays 3:30-4:30PM & Thursdays 10:00-11:00AM Located in the Science of Storms Gallery Whether you need a moment of quiet or are looking to keep up literacy this summer, come aboard for story time with B.B. Sea Reads. Filled with maritime topics at several reading levels this is a great way to engage your pint-sized pirates while visiting the Museum. TAKE PART IN DOCENT LED TOURS Fridays 11:00AM Tours start at the Shipwrecks Chart in the Admissions Lobby Looking for the museum exhibits to come to life? Be sure to plan to visit on a Friday this summer to catch a docent led tour! With only 20 slots available, and no extra fees, they will certainly fill fast. All tours will start promptly at 11:00AM. FIRST FRIDAY tours will offer something unique! PARTICIATE IN HANDS-ON CREATIVE TIME with EDU LABS Saturdays 11:00AM & 1:00PM in the Ford Room Let that creativity flow! Join our Crew for some hands-on creative time twice on Saturdays. Both Sailors Valentines and Scrimshaw programming will be offered. Labs are limited to 25 participants and run approximately 30 minutes. COME SAIL AT THE WARNOCK MODEL BOAT POND Saturdays 10:00AM - 12:00Noon & Sundays 2:30PM - 4:30PM Sail with us this summer! Every Saturday and Sunday, weather permitting, the Warnock Model Boat Pond will have a Crew member available to help you learn the art of sailing with Remote Control (RC) boats. No museum admission necessary to join this fun - but a $5 donation is suggested. |
