The Columbia River Salmon Derby

Chinook Port Alliance is a non-profit organization dedicated to recreation and facility enhancement for the Port of Chinook through community support. We have been in operation since 2017 and have held annual fundraisers generating over $62,000 in support for the Port of Chinook facility upgrades. To date our funds assisted in the new payment kiosk located in front of the port’s office, lumber for replacing docks, emergency equipment repairs and most recently the graveling and grading of the parking areas and the rebuilding of the launch dock.
 
This year we are again hosting a community event called “The Columbia River Salmon Derby” at the Historic Chinook School in Chinook Washington.  Scheduled for August 21 & 22, 2026, we have secured local businesses to cater the event. 
 
The event on the school’s grounds will host local musicians and a DJ, beer, wine & cocktails as well as a Salmon Derby, Saturday, August 22nd.  Three categories of prizes; Largest Chinook ($1000), Largest Silver ($500), and a prize for the Largest Fish caught by a child 16 and under, and three additional mystery fish weights will be awarded prizes.  We will also host a raffle/silent auction. Registration and pre-party event will be held Friday, Aug 21st.
